In this very first video, I’m excited to showcase the creation of beautiful box braids on my sister’s beautiful hair using a traditional Congolese technique. This video is not a tutorial; it's an opportunity for me to share a piece of my personal story, explain why I braid and delve into the fascinating stories and meanings behind various braiding styles.
In this video, I’ll demonstrate a technique used to create box braids. Named for the small, square sections in which the hair is divided, box braids are not only stylish but also protective, keeping the hair healthy and manageable. I’ll shortly guide you through the technique, including how to wrap and braid extensions seamlessly.
You will also notice in the video that I’m not using any hair products like gel or wax. My sister has sensitive hair, so we kept it natural to ensure her comfort. I’ll also share some tips, like using a rat-tail comb for precision and how to manage sections without clips.
Through this video, I hope to connect with you not just through the result but through the experience and stories shared during the braiding process. It’s a time to bond, share memories, and celebrate our heritage.
